Robbed and assaulted - told by police to dye her hair black

A young woman in Vienna, Austria, recently experienced to be mugged and beaten by four asylum seekers. After being treated in hospital for wounds to the head, shoulder and elbow, as well as her back and hips, the woman went to the police to report the crime. There she was told that she should not go out alone after eight o’clock in the evening, not to wear provoking clothes, and to consider wearing a hijab . Police also told the young woman that such attacks now have become common, and that it will only get worse.

The incident took place when she was waiting for a train at the S6 line of the city’s main station Westbahnhof station.

The 20-year-old woman who was assaulted by four asylum seekers, told the newspaper Heute, how she felt totally helpless.

– I stood on the platform waiting for a train, when a man came up and spoke to me in a foreign language. He then began to stroke his hands through my hair and made it clear that in his culture there are hardly any blonde women. I told him to go away, and he did for a short while.

– But it was only to bring his friends, and a little while later he came back with three other men. They stole my purse and took my credit cards.

And as if that was not enough, the men ended the robbery with an extremely violent assault until she fell to the ground, before they ran away.

The 20-year-old student says that from what she understood, they came from Afghanistan. She says that no one came to her aid when she lay in agony on the platform.

After being treated at a hospital, for wounds to the head, shoulder and elbow, as well as her back and hips, the woman went to the police to report the crime.

But “Sabine’s” (name changed) despair turned to anger when the police, instead of taking the matter seriously and show understanding, told her that she should wear a hijab, and that she should not have gone alone using public transport after eight in the evening.
